The Research Group “Emergent and Alternative Agricultures” (AGREMAL) of the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture at the University of São Paulo (ESALQ/USP), Piracicaba campus, Brazil, announces an open selection process for a postdoctoral scholarship in a project linked to the Public Policy Research Program (PPPP), supported by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP, proccess no 2023/10133-0). The call is aimed at researchers with proven experience in research and extension in public policy analysis and Agroforestry Systems (AFS) within agrarian reform settlements. The researcher will be tasked with producing and systematizing knowledge capable of enhancing public policy implementation for AFS in federal agrarian reform settlements in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, as well as their associated public management processes. Both qualitative and quantitative approaches will be employed for documentary analysis, participatory diagnoses, socioeconomic, and agro-environmental analyses. The expected outcomes aim to provide support for planning public policies and management processes geared
towards the effectiveness and sustainability of AFS. Additionally, the production, processing, and marketing of AFS products, along with supporting public policies, will be examined. The research framework is structured with the support of theoretical concepts such as the multifunctionality of agriculture, agroecology, food sovereignty, and short marketing circuits, offering elements for the internationalization of research and reflection to improve public policies relevant to the sustainable development of agrarian reform territories.
